Bangladesh has been forced to halt seafood production after the death of at least four people.
The outbreak has spread to nine other states and the capital of Dhaka, Dhaka and other districts in southern Bangladesh, where the number of confirmed cases and deaths have been rising.
The health ministry said it had declared the outbreak a pandemic and had sent in extra staff and medical experts.
It said that in the district of Dhakarwada, the outbreak was under control and the affected districts were under control.
But in other districts, such as Chittagong and Baghlan, the number had risen sharply and more than 4,000 people were reported to have been infected.
The disease has killed at least 8,000 and injured almost 20,000, according to the World Health Organization.
More than 10,000 cases have been reported in Bangladesh, while the number is likely to rise.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) has warned that it will not be able to stop the spread of the virus unless it has a massive response.
The WHO says the number and number of deaths will rise.
