HULK’S SIGHTING: The ocean-side seafood market is changing, but one major seafood market remains the same: seafood.
HULk’s Sighting: The Ocean-Side Seafood Market is changing…and one major market remains: seafoodThe new market in Florida is one of the first to see this, thanks to a new breed of restaurants called Hulks Seafood, whose chefs have transformed traditional seafood restaurants into innovative, upscale eateries.
It’s a change that will undoubtedly have a ripple effect in other seafood markets as well.
Hulks was founded in 2013 by a group of chefs who were looking for a new direction for their restaurant.
“Our focus was to do something that was new, exciting and not just traditional seafood,” says Hulkins CEO and founder, John Pecora.
The restaurant was built around a focus on traditional seafood, including anchovies, herring, mackerel, macadamia nuts, oysters and other traditional fish, including halibut.
A year later, Hulk opened the first location in New York City.
But it wasn’t enough to turn Hulking into a destination restaurant.
Hulkes also wanted to take its seafood business to a global scale.
So, they built their first international restaurant in Singapore in 2019.
By 2021, HULKS had expanded to 11 locations in the United States, Europe, the Middle East and Asia, with plans for an expansion to a second location in Mexico.
For the first two years, Hulk’s Seafood was a local restaurant.
But it also expanded to more locations in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Puerto Rico and Texas.
And the demand was great.
About 200,000 people visit the restaurant each week, and more than half of them are new customers.
The restaurant is so popular that Hulkin expects to add another 300,000 to its global menu this year.
In 2017, Hulinas Seafood Restaurant was honored by the Restaurant Association of New York as one of three best seafood restaurants in the world.
Now, Huls Seafood is expanding to new markets, and is building a second restaurant in Mexico that will be the first of its kind.
With its new location in Puerto Rico, Huliks Seaforn will become the first seafood restaurant to serve seafood from all over the world, including New York, Texas, Florida and Asia.
As we head into 2018, Hula is expecting to add a second seafood restaurant in the Philippines.
Then, Hulus Seafood will open a new seafood restaurant for Mexico, with the intent of expanding into the rest of the world in the years to come.
This is a global restaurant.
The global menu will include seafood from the Americas, Europe and Asia as well as traditional seafood from Asia and the Caribbean.
We’re in a world where there are a lot of new places for food to be found, and the seafood is just getting better.
It’s a big market that will continue to expand.
Pecora says he’s been in the seafood industry for nearly 40 years.
I always want to do things new, he says.
“It’s an exciting time for the seafood market.
You’ve got a lot more of new restaurants opening every day, and it’s just a great time to be a chef and a restaurateur.”
HULK SIGHTINGS: The Seafood market is shifting, but another major seafood markets remains the the same, thanks.
